Okoume

Okoume is prized for its mixture of patterns. The grain may be straight, shallowly interlocked, wavy, lustrous, or any combination.

Antiqued

Antiqued technique creates a handsome, vintage, timeworn look on new furniture by applying a coat of stain and allowing it to dry completely. The stain is then removed from selected areas, usually edges and corners, using fine-grit sandpaper giving it a faded appearance.

Nicks

Reproducing what looks like years of dings and dents, this process is done by hand to make physical impressions in the wood.

Cow-tailing

This technique brings more depth to grain patterns by using a small brush with a very dark stain to put random short dark lines or curves on the surface.

Rub-through

Enhancing the grain pattern of underlying coats, this method uses sandpaper or wool
to gently rub away some of the topcoat on edges, carvings and other areas.

Multi-step

Adding dimension, color, character and smoothness to the wood, a multi-step finishing process also preserves the wood's natural beauty. This wonderfully enhancing process is highly desirable, and found in the finest furniture.

Mortise & Tenon

Mortise-and-tenon joints are a variation of a tongue-and-groove joint, and are used in table legs, chairs, chests and dressers to provide added strength. The narrowest end (tenon) of one piece of wood fits into a hole (mortise) in the second piece of wood. The joint may be glued, pinned, or wedged to lock it in place.

Woven

Each piece of woven furniture has its own individual character and texture due to the weaving process and natural fibers used. The unique atmosphere they create will suite a wide variety of tastes and styles.

Crown molding

A way to add texture, personality and richness to any piece of furniture, crown molding is a decorative strip used along the tops of cabinets.
